Benefits to Schools

StudentsDear Parents and Educators,

I believe that this web page and its contents will be of interest to you and merit the time from your busy schedule to read.

Most people are not aware that electrical pollution – otherwise referred to as ‘dirty electricity’ or ‘radio wave sickness’ – exists, let alone are they are aware of how if affects the body.

Generated primarily by electronic devices (computers, televisions, energy efficient lighting), electrical pollution flows through our homes and above a certain level, is internalized by the body.

The damaging effects manifest themselves in a variety of ways, including chronic fatigue, depression, headaches, body aches and pains, ringing in the ears, dizziness, impaired sleep, memory loss and confusion. Children seem to be especially susceptible to this form of energy.

Benefits

The benefits to a school are two-fold. When the filters are placed in schools, the teachers and students are healthier, and there is considerable cost savings to the schools, in the form of fewer sick days, disciplinary action with students and reduced computer repairs. In a Toronto school, the temperature of the computer room dropped 20 degrees (F) with the filters installed on the computer power bars.

We have installed the filters within our home, and while the results are subtle, they are significant (improved memory and focus, calmer, there is a stressor missing from the environment).

I have been advocating for the removal of dirty electricity in schools for 2 years. Please read the report which I co-authored entitled Electrical Pollution and Our Schools. This report not only outlines the issue of dirty electricity, but also clearly states the benefits.

Why does your school need to clean its electricity?

Benefits of a clean electrical environment to teachers and students

  • Overall teacher well being improved while the filters were in place in a Toronto school study. Teachers were less frustrated, less tired, less irritable. They were better able to focus and had better health, improved mood, and greater sense of accomplishment.
  • The study results show:
    • 45% of the teachers reported feeling less tired and less frustrated
    • 35% felt healthier; 30% were less irritable
    • 25% had improved mood, more energy and a greater sense of satisfaction with their work while the filters were installed
    • Staff with allergies took less medication, students with migraines experienced less pain
    • 39% to 56% of teachers may have some degree of electro sensitivity
  • Sixty percent of the classes showed significant improvements in student behavior.
  • As much as 5 to 10 minutes were saved each period in unproductive activity while the Graham Stetzer filters were installed.
  • Improved power quality is associated with behavior that is more conducive to learning in the classroom.

Cost Savings to Schools and School Boards

  • Teacher absences for health-related reasons were dramatically reduced after the filters were installed in a school in Wisconsin. Fewer teacher sick days leads to less teacher substitution.
  • Sick building syndrome may be due to dirty electricity rather than mold. Check electrical quality before starting a costly mold clean-up program that may not be necessary.
  • Fewer computer repairs.
  • Increased efficiency of operations – less time spent in disciplinary action, improved use of class time.
  • A happier, calmer school.

Dirty electricity is an invisible and easily ignorable issue

It places an unseen stressor on the body. Without the stressor, the body can function as it should.
I feel that we are being unfair to our children by expecting them to learn and behave in an environment which is not conducive to learning.
I am very thrilled that so many teachers will be aware of this new issue facing the students and their own health.
